If there is a historical hotel in town, that has to be La Perla. Kings, artists, singers, everybody has stayed at this incredible family run hotel.

Hotel La Perla is by far, the best hotel in town. If we talk about location, it is unbeatible, It is in Plaza del Castillo, the heart of the city. Then, if we talk about rooms, it is perfect, the size, the confort, the showers…. And if we talk about services, it is beyond. The team that works at la Perla is the best one in town. They can help you with almost everything you might need.

This 5 star hotel was founded in 1881, and was fully reestored in 2007. By the way, it is the 2nd oldest hotel in Spain. It was and still is a family run hotel. It is easy to find Mr. Rafael Moreno (the owner) at the lobby. He is easy to spot. He is a gentleman. His personal charm and his signature moustache stands out. His family have hosted at their hotel all of Spain´s royals. Also Hollywood directors like Orson Welles, or Woody Allen. Movie stars from Spain, or the USA ( Charlie sheen, Charles Chaplin…). And ofcourse the incredible writter Ernest Hemingway.

The rooms

It is just a 44 room hotel. Four of them are suits, 9 deluxe, 11 are junior suites, and 20 are standard.  If you are hosted here during San Fermín, I would recomend you to ask for a room overlooking Estafeta Street. You will have the best view of the running of the bulls. There are 20 rooms overlooking this street. But if you come to Pamplona the rest of the year, I would recommned you to  book the ones facing Plaza del Castillo (19 of them) You will be watching the life of the city.  The view  is really incredible.

If you are a history freak (like I am) you might enjoy some of the historical rooms. The most famous one is 217, which was Hemingways room. But they also have one that pays tribute to the violin player Pablo Sarasate. Another for the architect Victor Eusa. And so many more.

All the roms are extremaly confortable. The beds are firm, but cozy (I love them) A special mention to the bath rooms, and specially the showers. OMG I need one of this at home!!!
